Today, students are taking a pre-assessment for the realistic fiction writing unit! In this unit, students will learn how to generate story ideas, write intros to "hook" the reader right away, develop characters and conflicts using vivid details, build tension and reveal powerful themes in their writing.
What can you do to help? Ask your child about their writing at home. Have them share their work with you! Look for story ideas at every turn... on the news, at sports practice, in the grocery store. Interesting characters are everywhere! And story ideas can be found in the cracks of every day life.
